Meditation Classes
Personalized
I teach online, in-person, and through workshops. It begins with a conversation about you. What has been your prior meditation experience, obstacles and challenges? What are your goals? We will work together to help you learn to meditate in ways that are comfortable and gratifying.
Small Group Classes
Whether we meet In person or online, small classes give personalized support as well as the opportunity to learn from discussion with others.
Scheduling is flexible to accomodate availability of participants. Hybrid arrangements are also possible.
Private Instruction
We will start with where you are right now and move forward at a pace that's comfortable for you. Once your practice is well-established, we will follow up as you need it.
with sound baths & Yoga Nidra
Add a sound bath or yoga nidra to your meditation instruction for an effortless dive into expansive silence. These uniquely wonderful experiences combine music and guided meditation. They help you slip past mental chatter into expansive awareness and deep relaxation. Whether you're a new meditator or restarting a practice this is a great way to refresh and support it.
New Classes
I co-teach these courses with Dawn Kinsey
Raja Yoga
Raja Yoga is often described as the highest or “royal” path of yoga because it integrates physical, mental, and spiritual practices to attain inner peace, harmony and realization of the supreme self.
In this introductory course you’ll learn a simple meditation technique with a combination of supporting practices that relax and energize mind, body, and spirit. The integrative approach boosts mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
At the end of the course you will have a flexible daily practice to help release stress, restore vitality, and open the flow of creative and regenerative energy in your life. The benefits will increase with practice as you continue to experience and unfold the joyful nature of pure consciousness, your spiritual essence and supreme self.
Your new skill set will include meditation, pranayama breathing, chair yoga, somatic awareness, and yoga music. You may adapt your practice to your needs, schedule, and preferences.
3 classes plus a sound bath or yoga nidra
Yoga nidra
This meditation practice is often referred to as “yogic sleep.” It is practiced lying down comfortably, and brings the body into deep relaxation while the mind opens to subtler awareness. The practice includes breath awareness, body scanning, guided imagery, and effortless observation.
Yoga Nidra invites a state of restful awareness between waking and sleeping. Many people experience profound calm, nervous system restoration, and emotional ease. Regular practice enhances the benefits.
Each class includes a mini lesson on somatic awareness, which is another term for sensitivity to the needs and limits of your body. Over the six lessons you will learn a simple routine you can adjust to your needs and schedule.
A series of 6 classes, also offered as single events
Dawn brings expertise in somatic awareness as a holistic healing practitioner in meditation and transformative mind-body healing. She is now a Facilitator and Coach at EmBodied Wisdom, a company she founded for this work. Dawn supports people who feel anxious, tense, depressed, reactive, exhausted, or muddled to feel clarity, peace & ease.
My Experience
I have taught meditation for more than 50 years. It started with Transcendental Meditation, a highly effective technique which I still recommend. Recently I completed another meditation teacher training course in which I focused on more individualized approaches.
My goal is to help people find a process and practice that feels right and fits into their life. This includes people who are new to meditating, or who have made attempts in the past that didn’t work for them. Or perhaps you’ve had a regular or semi-regular practice that has plateaued. I will meet you where you are and help you move forward in a collaborative way.
What to expect
A personalized approach that’s rooted in ancient practices as well as current best practices, but also adapted to meet your needs. My goal is to help you meditate regularly with deep easiness. You should enjoy your practice and feel the benefits tangibly.
